Continuing the tradition of having an awful name to search for on mercari 🤪 otherwise that's neat, it kinda gives the impression this is a more permanent band than a solo/session band. Also wondering if other members will have input composing the music.

It's nice to have something consistent from Ruiza and Seth.

@disposable My problem back in the day is I really latched onto accusing them of being unoriginal because of their song DIE KUSSE basically being a metalcore version of Filth in the Beauty. So everything else they did I just couldn't accept other than being some copy of something else and I was just really stuck up my butt about it. At the same time, I was really into Grieva and they are probably the most notorious about rippin on dir en grey so like, looking back, can't help but be like wow I was really pretentious and annoying huh? LOL!!

I don't really know when I got over myself but I got really into Penicillin and at some point I couldn't help but notice Tsuzuku's singing reminding me so much of Hakuei's singing. I was hooked after that, he's a fun and versatile singer.

Otherwise, Mejibray dominated and held everyone's attention for a reason and that's probably why they had so many haters lmao.

  • What VTM Clan would a Bandmen fall into.
    SATAN-GOTH-ZONES SATAN-GOTH-ZONE

What Vampire the Masquerade clan would your favourite bandmen fall into?
Feel free to post multiple looks for the same person, like would Moi Dix Mois Mana be an Anarch and Malice Mizer Bara no Seidou Mana be a Lasomba?

It's a silly topic but my friends and I have gotten into playing Vampire The Eternal Struggle card game, based on the table top game. I being the obnoxious host that I am, brought out my collect of vkei acrylic stands and assigned them to people based on what I felt appropriate for the clan they were playing.

If you aren't familiar with the game, here is the tldr:

    • It's a table top RPG that came out in the 90s. I'm going to explain things poorly but it is a table top RPG published by a company called White Wolf. There's actually multiple different RPGs that all take place in the shared universe but vampire is the most popular. Its had videos games and as I mentioned, a card game made based on the setting, maybe more that I'm unaware of. I actually have never played the table top or any of the video games but the card game is fun.
    • The thing that I think makes it appealing is that there's different vampire clans that all have various unique traits and influences. So if you are really into Lost Boy style vampires, you will have the Brujah to fill that niche, maybe you really like vampire rock star Lestat, well good news we have Toreado! Maybe you're like me and really like Nosferatu, well they have Nosferatu. It's a fun setting to read the lore on and the card game is pretty fun if you can get a group going.

Here is a link to a wikipedia with the different clans and bloodlines
    https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Clan_(VTM)
    https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Bloodline_(VTM)

Here's what I subjected some of my friends too the other night.

    For Lasomba we have Mana.

Ventrue we have CEO Asagi lmao.

    Toreador is of course Kamijo.
    518e1ed1-505a-47a8-befd-24a49401168e-image.webp

Most of my acrylic stands are Asagi so everything else was just, Asagi but with a whip or Asagi posing like a horse girl and Asagi as a Samurai etc etc. So my selection was limited but it was funny. I also put on a playlist that would sometimes cycle through Malice Mizer, Kamijo, D, Dracula Flow, etc

  • 2010s In Visual Kei – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
    SATAN-GOTH-ZONES SATAN-GOTH-ZONE

When I filter my music library by year and visual kei, the 2010s is my second most collected decade, with 2000-2009 being the number 1 and the 90s as the 3rd.

It's kinda wild to look back on the bands that were active during the decade, Mejibray was active for a good chunk of the 2010s. I used to be a humongous hater until I picked up that they are actually kinda like a metalcore Penicillin and then I got hooked. I think they're a good example of that shift towards metalcore in the scene along with others like DELUHI, D.I.D. and another core band I can't remember.

I wasn't too big into the core bands because I'm an old school kote snob but the 2010s was good for all those worship Ains bands like you mentioned. We also had Run:atic active at the start of the 2010s before disbanding into obscurity and later La'veil Mizeria starting up in the late 2010s.

D, another favourite of mine that I followed had some of their best releases (Vampire Saga and Kingdom) and some of their worst releases (Wonderland Savior) in the 2010s. That's also when Asagi would try incorporating more screams into his music (7th Rose), whether it was numetal or core influence, something was influencing them to incorporate more modern/popular styles in their music. Later releases they found a middle ground that worked for Asagi but I just put on 7th Rose and his screaming in that song still makes me laugh.

The 2010s is when Kiryu thrived the most, I know they started activity a few yeas before 2010 but that's the decade they played Budokon for the first time. I wouldn't credit Kiryu as the ones to popularize Wafuu but I do think they influenced other bands during that decade like Memento Mori and Zin/Yusai.

I suppose we could do the typical ice breaker threads. What's your favorite band. When did you get into vkei. What was your first vkei obsession? Have you heard of our Lord and Savior, Mana-sama. Favorite merch item etc etc. I know sometimes these topics are redundant but it's a new community and a good start to get people talking.

We can also do some rage bait threads lmao, roast my favorite band, why your honmei stinks, worst singers in vkei, etc etc. I'm not serious but a roast thread might be fun if people don't take it personally.

@Tokage Oh these rock! I love them! I have never seen these before. Come to think of it, Inugami Circus Dan has a couple Yokoo style covers for some of their releases.

I'm generally so-so about most vkei album covers. The only ones that stand out to me from memory are the Suehire Maruou covers they did for Merry and the ones that Yamato Takato has done for Kyo and Dir en grey. Also early Kagerou releases I like the covers.

I think I have most of these songs already but curious what the CD rip sounds like but I will always try to snatch up Matina related releases because I have a problem. It also wasn't very much and I needed to add something light to my order to justify the insane amount of money I was going to pay in shipping a buncha NewType magazines.

I also got these ASAGI stands because they're extremely funny and I like collecting cursed merch. It's incredibly funny the car's license plate says the single name and I completely support his horse girl arc. I love my foxy grandpa.

DEFLOWER, Kagrra and Lustair demo tapes.

I also love the art/design for all those early demo tapes. Close up of someone's eye(s) taken with a polaroid, moody dark art drawn by a friend or the extravagant KEY PARTY designs.

Demo tapes are really fun, they're definitely alive in well in DIY punk and synth scenes. I buy them at shows from bands all the time and I love how fun and crafty they are.

  • Collectors: What are your holy grail item(s)?
    SATAN-GOTH-ZONES SATAN-GOTH-ZONE

During the pandemic Kiryu did crowdfunding campaign for their watashi mamire live DVD. The higher tiers you could get a custom concert performance with songs of your choice, that tier alone was over $1,000 USD I think. I wouldn't mind grabbing someone's personal concert DVD but they also put out versions of the concert with member specific angles. Those were also incredibly expensive tier in the campaign and they pop up sometimes on Mercari but always floating around $200-$500.

I've never seen Mahiro's or Mitsuki's versions second hand but I've seen the others and if they ever go below $100 I might consider grabbing one out of curiosity. I would ultimately want all of them but I just can't see myself spending that much to just watch Junji on the drums for two hours or something lol.

Otherwise, I always love getting doujinshi and fan magazines for 90s and early 2000s bands. I love seeing the fan art, especially in that 90s manga shojo style I love. I own a few Romancing Saga and Tomomi Kobayashi artbooks specifically for her that's totally not Sakurai fan art.

The musician HYDE is here as a tiny, adorable Nendoroid!

    Face plates:

    · Sidelong glancing face
    · Combat face

    Optional parts:
