Oh hey! A new place! -
Cover art: the good, the bad, and the WTFguruguru eigakan are so unique! i love seeing covers with overwhelming amount of color lol. some of my personal favorites would be covers with art 100%. some i can think of right now are:

fun fact, ride an angel’s hair (middle) got drawn by an acquaintance of Euro’s at the time iirc. he wrote the last album’s song inspired by it
ah wow the rescaling really failed here

SHAMBARA@polarwizer truly! they’d been sitting in my library for a while unappreciated. these guys need even more love

-
SHAMBARA@pairdog me too!!! It’s like casiopea with… vocals lol
-
SHAMBARAAnyone listen to this band? Their self titled and only album is so good! I recently found out about them by mistake, while searching for the equivalent dead end album that was coincidentally released around the same period. They consist of vocalists Yurie Kokubu and Kaoru Akimoto (whose solo work I should note is also amazing), two former casipoea members (ba. Tetsuo Sakurai & dr. Akira Jimbo), guitarist Nozomi Furukawa and keyboardist Kunihiko Ryo. Short lived but gold…

Favorite Visual Kei Demo Tapes/Cassettes in generalheavy agree on missantroop, its the song that made me get into madeth's music!!
a personal favorite of mine is literally any of rain's DTs. their whole discography was only consisted of various small demos with simple covers and i feel like thats the most charming thing about them -
Atmospheric albums / songsill make sure to! all these lists you have are perfect for my lack of nagoya band knowledge lol. i saved these two for starters and will definitely move onto the others at some point!
-
Atmospheric albums / songs@brainimpediment id love the playlists a lot actually if you can, sounds handy ^^ i appreciate it!
-
Your Top 10 Visual Kei Albums of All Time@pairdog HEAVY AGREE!!! this album had me on chokehold for at least 2 years, even now i sometimes put it on and each song feels like hearing it for the first time again. im so glad to see laputa appreciation too, awesome taste!
-
Atmospheric albums / songs@brainimpediment you guys fell right in these sound DAMN GOOD. i think you just convinced me. im always hearing 9goats black out being mentioned but never got around to actually listen, so now is a good chance.
everything looks so tempting i will probably be making a playlist to go through slowly. i dont even know where to start! tysm for taking the time! -
Your Top 10 Visual Kei Albums of All Timeforgot to add malice oh my god. merveilles and bara no seidou deserve a place in there too
-
Your Top 10 Visual Kei Albums of All Timethis is gonna be real hard... i wont attempt to rank them, this is just a list:
- DEAD END - GHOST OF ROMANCE (1987) (do they count?)
- BUCK-TICK - HURRY UP MODE (1987)
- COLOR - gekitotsu!! (1988)
- X JAPAN - BLUE BLOOD (1989)
- ZI:KILL - CLOSE DANCE (1990)
- ZI:KILL - ROCKET (1993)
- Kuroyume - nakigara wo... (1993)
- SPEED-iD - INNER DIMENSION (1993)
- Laputa - kagerou (1996)
- NeiL - RAZOR (1999)
if they were considered vkei i would totally add 'electric moon & more' and 'trash land' by der zibet.
-
DEAD ENDtysm, noted! ill check the whole thing out when i can. ive stumbled upon the linked song before but now that im hearing and watching it again... wow violin is such a great addition. and beautiful video clip... everything progresses so beautifully
-
Japanese goth/post-punk general@Tokage i love g-schmitt! i admittedly got into them after finding out their vocalist syoko was one of morrie's (dead end) favorites, as he listened to post-punk. their atmosphere is unmatched... belladona and 千夜一夜 are some of my favorite tracks from them.
-
DEAD END@Jigsaw i was so surprised when i heard the fact about seinfeld series. sometimes i forget they released tons of stuff in the US too lol
to be honest, metamorphosis didnt really appeal to me, at least not as much as their prime stuff (sob)as for morries solo... i havent listened to everything but romantic na was cool. i like that he experimented with jazzier sounds and atmosphere. but i need to listen to everything soon, i feel like im missing out on a huge chunk of his stuff after dead end...
-
DEAD END@disposable i get your point! i think more artists should add differing melodies, especially concerning bass. it can be showcased way more properly than just act as a 'secondary' instrument. taiji also did a great job at that... soloing like he would on a guitar lol. also der zibet! their use of bass in their like really album releases feels so playful and adds so much to the songs...
-
Atmospheric albums / songs@polarwizer tysm!!! id been meaning to check out kreis bands, definitely giving those a listen. also yes heavy agree on blüe, whatever ive heard from them i liked!
-
DEAD ENDI love spider in the brain too!!! And sacrifice of the vision. I feel like everywhere you look theres bout to be some morrie influence lol
-
Atmospheric albums / songs@pyromania thank you peakling. I havent checked out enya apart from 2 songs so i definitely will. western recs are welcome here
As for Luna sea… I dont remember Lastly, I will check it out along with ryu songs -
Hello any keyparty fans here
@kihliice right. Im under the impression daisuke from NeiL had a hand in their transition from key party to their next label but im not entirely sure too
