Music recommendation thread
-
Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the staggering amount of music out there? I most certainly have, so I thought it'd be a good idea to make a recommendations thread where we can help people discover more VK bands similar to the ones they already love and share some hidden gems we believe deserve more attention.
Starting things off with a hidden gem of my own: シドロ喪ドロ (Sidro Modro). They're a relatively new shironuri band with a sound that should definitely appeal to people who are into bands like Guruguru Eigakan, Kalavinka, and so on.

one band i absolutely adore yet see nobody talk about is justy nasty. they’re a great oldschool band who had a beautiful progression from the 80s ‘bad boy rock’ sound to a more melodic sound more typical of kurofuku/early vk bands (but they were one of the very first!)

Not sure how much they’re talked about but I feel inclined to recommend them. Silver~Rose is definitely worth a listen! A lot of people say they were the band who ‘helped’ in the transitional period from okeshou/kurofuku to kote kei. I also think they were an important influence for the bands who would come after them. Personally love their early stuff, their self tiled album (1991) is very charming. But I would recommend the album ‘keen kiss me’ (1993) for first time listeners!

Here's another recommendation from me: bask in the deep. They were around for most of the 2010s and had a dark, atmospheric sound that should appeal to people who are into the gloomier side of art kei and nagoya kei. Their vocalist is now in camellia dystrudia. They dropped a bunch of singles, two mini-albums, and a full album before disbanding in 2017. Their full album was uploaded to the band's official YT account:
