Hey everyone :] I'm trying to listen to every single album listed here, but there's this one thing that's been bugging me ever since I first saw it.

The first section is labeled as being pre-vkei and 1980s, but there's very clearly albums from after the 80s in that section. I can see that all the artists are bands born during that decade, but is there anyone that can tell me if that was the sole logic in including those albums in that section? It kind of irks me because the part labels imply (to me) that the albums are going to be listed in chronological order, as if I can pretend I'm listening to visual kei's evolution from single-celled organism to fish to land mammal, but in actuality if I want to listen to all the albums in chronological order it'll take extra work I'm not willing to do.

It's only a minor annoyance though. Just seeking assumption confirmation here.

I own that book and don't remember it mentioning specifically anything about the ideology of why bands were placed in certain categories, but I believe it's just by formation year. I had been planning to do a listen-through thing for a long time as well, but I can definitely see the non-chronological part being a little annoying from an evolutionary standpoint.

Pretty sure I bought it from Amazon.co.jp way back in the day. I think it only goes up through 2012/2013, so it's pretty out of date but still an interesting read.
